LOST THE SUMMER

should be outside playing with my friends- Amilia said to her mother while nearly screaming. Its summer and I have been locked inside these walls for many months, she was looking across the clock in her room and realizing her days to live life are wasting in the hope for someone to find the vaccine for the pandemic. It felt like an eternal winter had come as in the “Game of Thrones” show, this winter was starting to freeze the blood out of people including Amilia. The girl whose days would be spent playing football, chatting with her class fellows, eating ice creams, burger and going to concerts were now spent staring at the clock hanging on her wall. It feels like we have lost the summer mom! Amilia said again to her mother in a deep voice which represented how sad she was feeling where she could do nothing but wait. She wanted to have holidays but now she was having an eternal vacation with the same repeated mornings. Mom left saying all the things she has told me billions of times that I should hope the pandemic ends soon but when will it end?! Laying back down on her bed again for the nth time. In the beginning, it was fun though it would end soon but then days turned into months into a year. Reminiscing back on to the times when she went to the beach and the cold water hit her feet, the time she went to do an early morning walk in the park which was filled with different sounds of humans chattering, beautiful flowers and the blue clear sky. It really does feel like that we have lost the summer days of our youth to the pandemic, Amelia says while her eyes start to shutter down and go to another world of imagination. She sleeps because she has nothing to do on a hot sunny summer day.
